Music is organized sound that often has patterns we enjoy in the mind and body, that can appeal to our sense of beauty, and may trigger ideas and emotions.
There have been moments in my life when I have heard music that I have immediately felt a profound affinity with. When I was six years old and watched the movie The Jungle Book I discovered swing and jazz, and experienced the joy of how entwined music is with physical movement and dance. The instant I first gently dropped the needle of a record player onto Keith Jarrett's The Köln Concert in my teens, I found an aesthetic kindred spirit. On both occasions, I remember every detail, when music came from inside me as much as from the external sources I listened to.
When I hear music I do so differently than anyone else, and so it is with you. We might respond in a similar manner, but not identically. We feel unpredictably according to our personal experience.
Music becomes within.
