Instinct: innate behaviour in response to something that moves us physically or psychologically.
Will: the desire to act, distinct from reason and understanding, and often driven by spirit or appetite.
Doing anything requires instinct, will, or a combination of the two.
We are each different in the way we are driven, and in the way we act, although when living in communities, humans often conform to similar ways of being.
I have a strong resistance to doing things I feel have little value. This natural inclination often conflicts with personal and social pressures. My instinct and will is often at odds with the majority, and this is a common experience of artists.
Through instinct, the wilful artist creates, despite social and practical pressures, despite clear cause.
